Birds and Unexplored Nature
This trip is for those who are passionate about birds and who want to test their strength against a mountain. Visit the breathtaking islands and get a closer look at the beautiful, colourful flowers, while the diverse bird life unfolds around you. Experience the islands of Mykines, where you get close to the birds, Sandoy with the interesting flora and bird life as well as Nólsoy, which offers a unique evening walk to the largest Storm Petrel colonies in the world.

Program: Fly and Drive 8 days / 7 nights
SUNDAY: Arrival to the Faroe Islands. Visit the small villages of Bøur, Gásadalur and enjoy the stunning views.
Arrival with Atlantic Airways to Vágar Airport. Pick up your rental car at the airport.
Enjoy the rest of the day on your own, visit for example the small villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, or take a walk from the village of Sandavágur to the rock formation the Witches’ Finger. This hike offers a rich scenery and great look out points.
Spend the night on Vágar.
MONDAY: Visit the island of Mykines, which has a unique birdlife.
Drive to the village of Sørvágur, where you head to the island of Mykines by ferry. Mykines is unique with is rich bird life.
Upon arrival we begin with a guided hike to Mykineshólm. Along the path out to the isle thousands of puffins breed and nest, and it is possible to get very close to them. On the isle itself is the only Faroese gannet colony. Bag lunch is enjoyed en route.
Spend the night on Vágar.
TUESDAY: A day with magnificent scenery, birds and flora.
Drive through the island of Streymoy, past the old whaling station Við Áir and over the bridge to Eysturoy.
We suggest a stop in the village of Eiði to walk up to Eiðiskollur. Eiðiskollur is very interesting as it is the only area where sheep are prohibited to graze. Experience a rich bird life and plant life and enjoy the panoramic view from the top.
Continue on to the village of Gjógv and en route see the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur at 882 meters and the impressive rock formations the Giant and the Witch, situated out in the sea.
Spend the night in Eysturoy.
WEDNESDAY: The village of Gjógv, hiking, coffee with the locals and the island Sandoy.
Enjoy the morning in the village of Gjógv, which is known for its natural harbour we recommend everyone sees. Here it is possible to hike up the mountain with a beautiful view over the adjacent islands and over bird cliffs. Get more information at the guesthouse in in Gjógv before going on a hike.
In the afternoon you drive to the village of Søldafjørður via Funningsfjørður to visit a private home with a unique garden, where coffee and cake will be served.
Continue on to the ferry harbor Gamlarætt via Tórshavn to board the ferry toward the island of Sandoy.
Spend the night in Sandoy.

THURSDAY: Visit the area Gróthúsvatn and the sand dunes.
From the village of Sandur we have arranged a guided walk with one of the locals from the island. You go to the fresh water lake Gróthúsvatn to see and hear more about the birdlife and to the sand dunes with a wide array of flowers, including spotted orchid, moss and lichens.
Your senses will be surrounded with impressions from the unique nature.
Spend the night at Sandoy.
FRIDAY: Exciting evening tour to the Storm Petrel colony on Nólsoy.
Return to Tórshavn. Early evening you take the ferry to the island of Nólsoy. Upon arrival you walk up to the local tourist office where you will be informed about your accommodations.
Take a walk on your own in this cozy little village, where there are almost no cars. Later in the evening a guided walk to the Storm Petrel colony, the largest in the world.
An exciting walk that lasts from approx 11 pm to 3 am.
Spend the night in Nólsoy.
SATURDAY: Discover Tórshavn and visit the cultural center Kirkjubøur.
Return from Nólsoy with the ferry to Tórshavn. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own.
We suggest a visit to the National Museum and the Open Air Museum, which is situated in beautifull surroundings by the old village of Hoyvík.
The village of Kirkjubøur, which is the cultural centre of the Islands is also worth a visit.
Spend the night in Tórshavn.
SUNDAY: Departure from the Faroe Islands.
Return rental car at the airport. Departure with Atlantic Airways.
