Island Hopping

This tour is ideal for those who love a challenge and are looking for some excitement. It will take you to some of the Faroes more remote islands by land and sea. Look forward to a unique opportunity to discover small village communities and their traditional way of life. Visit the bird paradise of Mykines, the Viking island of Skúvoy and Nólsoy, just some of this tour’s many highlights.

Itinerary: Self-guided adventure with local ferries and busses 

DAY 1: Arrival to the Faroe Islands.
Arrivel with with Atlantic Airways. The rest of the day is on your own. 

Spend the night on Vágar.

DAY 2: The unique bird Island - Mykines.
With boat from the harbour in Sørvágur to the island of Mykines. The trip starts with a fantastic sailing tour alongside the majestic cliff face. Mykines is home to thousands of migrating birds and you will have the opportunity to get a close look at them. Guided walk. Spot the charming puffins with their colourful beaks and the impressive gannets, which only breed on the isolated isle to the west of the main island. Enjoy the amazing viewpoints and see the bridge that crosses the North Atlantic Ocean!

Spend the night on Vágar.

DAY 3: The Viking island Skúvoy is full of stories - Enjoy the tranquility and nature.
From Vágar the tour continues with local busses and ferries via the island of Sandoy to Skúvoy, where the Viking Chieftain Sigmundur Brestisson built the first Christian church and lies buried. On arrival, there is coffee/tea and cake in a private home and your host will be happy to suggest some walking tours that you can manage on your own.

DAY 4: Saga island Sandoy, small village communities and storytelling
Return to Sandoy. Local driver/guide will meet you upon arrival and take you sightseeing around the island. Visit the small villages as you hear the dramatic sagas and stories of the island, inhabited since the Viking Ages. The tour ends at your accommodation.

Spend the night on Sandoy. 

DAY 5: The southernmost island - Suðuroy, stunning scenery and basalt columns
From Sandoy with local buses and ferries via Tórshavn to the island of Suðuroy. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you sail past the islands of Sandoy, Stóra Dímun and Lítla Dímun. In Tvøroyri you can see some of the historic buildings used by the Danish Royal Monopoly Store.

Overnight at Suðuroy.

DAY 6: Sightseeing on Suðuroy with local driver/guide and storytelling.
Sightseeing with driver/guide who will show you around this peculiar island, which has a rich history and unforgettable view points. The tour is determined by wind and weather. Lunch en route. In afternoon/evening return to Tórshavn by ferry.

Spend the night in Tórshavn.

DAY 7: Guided walk on Nólsoy, hear the story of the local hero.
With ferry to the Island Nólsoy, where you will enjoy a village walk. Hear the story about the local hero, Ove, who decided to row single-handed to Copenhagen. On your own you can walk to the top of the island where you have the most wonderful panoramic views of Tórshavn and the neighboring islands.

Spend the night in Tórshavn.

DAY 8: Departure from the Faroe Islands. 
Transfer to the airport and departure with Atlantic Airways.
