Only a 20-minute sail across the strait, and you are in another world. Nólsoy offers various unique sites and  experiences in the village, an excursion to one of the world’s largest storm petrel colonies on the east side, or just a quiet stroll among colorful houses, enchanting locals and a charming harbour.

From the harbor, we walk through the village to "Stongin" at the northern tip of the island, enjoying views of the ocean on both sides and spotting puffins. We pass a small white church and a memorial stone for Nólsoyar Páll, a local hero who opposed the Danish trade monopoly.

On the northeast side, we'll see how narrow the island is and feel the power of the North Atlantic waves. The local football field is to the west, and nature's playground lies to the east, separated by basalt cliffs. Our guide will share stories about Ove Joensen, who rowed solo from the Faroes to Denmark in 1986, inspiring the annual "Ovastevna" festival in mid-August, featuring food, singing, and dancing.

Nólsoy also has a grocery store, cafés, and a music venue where we can relax before returning to Tórshavn by ferry.

Round trip with RIB-boat from Gamlarætt on Streymoy to the island of Hestur.

Slowly we move as near as possible to the birds under the cliff, Loftið, whose vertical wall measures some 1,200 feet. Hestur harbours guillemots, puffins, black guillemots, shags, fulmars and eiders. A couple of seal caves are there as well. If the weather is good, we also sail into the caves, Álvagjógv and Klæmintsgjógv. Current and wind directions decide which way we sail around the island.

If the Mykines ferry is cancelled due to rough seas, which occurs occasionally, we will hold back DKK 1000, - per person if the cancellation is announced before the tour begins. If the ferry cancels after the tour has commenced refund is not possible and we will arrange an alternative tour to compensate for the sudden change. An alternative tour will always be arranged if the ferry cancels.
Booking with us requires that our customers are prepared to accept these conditions and remain adaptable as we will not be able to refund customers in such instances. Furthermore, under certain circumstances, local authorities may restrict access to the puffin colony as a conservation measure. In these instances, your guide will be ready to modify the itinerary as necessary. We expect participants to be flexible to ensure that effective workarounds can be implemented.

  • The availability of the tour is contingent upon securing ferry tickets to Mykines. If the ferry is fully booked, we cannot complete the tour and you will receive a full refund.
