A city break to Tórshavn offers shopping, great food, and a mass of experiences. Tórshavn has a homely atmosphere and is very easy to get around. You are always within walking distance to most of the attractions and cafés, where you can relax as you meet the locals after your exciting day’s activities.

From the colourful houses of the old town to the modern art galleries and cozy boutiques, Tórshavn blends tradition with contemporary Nordic charm. Wander through the narrow lanes of Tinganes, one of the oldest parliamentary meeting places in the world, or enjoy the salty sea breeze along the marina as fishing boats glide into the harbour.

Dining in Tórshavn is an experience in itself—choose from a range of restaurants that serve everything from innovative New Nordic cuisine to traditional Faroese dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. And when evening falls, the city doesn’t sleep. Live music, cultural performances, and lively pubs invite you to discover the local spirit and hospitality.

Whether you're exploring museums, shopping for Faroese wool, or simply watching the world go by from a harbour café, Tórshavn invites you to slow down, breathe in the fresh ocean air, and enjoy a truly unique getaway.

Day 1
Winter Weekend break - Day 1

Shopping, culture and delicious food.
After breakfast, it is time to explore Tórshavn. At the far end of the marina is the shop Østrøm where you can look at and maybe even buy, some of the modern Faroese art and handicrafts. Other interesting shops to visit in the city center are Tutl that sells Faroese music, Guðrun & Guðrun who sell knitwear in the latest Faroese fashion, Marjun Heimá that has specialised in producing the Faroese national costume and you can see a very nice display of these in the shop and Ullvøruhúsið. On the walk around town, you will pass by the quaint old bookshop, which is definitely worth a visit.

Have lunch at one of the many good cafes / restaurants.

If you need a break from shopping, we suggest a visit to the Nordic House, a Scandinavian culture centre, or the Art Museum and Gallery. Here you can see a wide range of Faroese art, showing how the nature and landscape has been dominant as a motif throughout the history of Faroese art.
