Bike holiday in the Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands is the perfect place to challenge yourself on bike and at the same time bring many experiences back with you in the luggage. This bike holiday itinerary has suggestions for different routes, which take you to some of the most unique places in the Faroe Islands. Enjoy some lovely days with lots of fresh air, amazing views and experiences you'll never forget.

Program: On your own by bike 7 days / 6 nights

Day 1: Arrival with Atlantic Airways. Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Tórshavn. Enjoy the rest of the day in Tórshavn.

Accommodation in Tórshavn.

Day 2: By appointment, your bike is picked up and we suggest the following tour: Tórshavn - Kirkjubø - Velbastaður - Tórshavn. A trip of approx. 30 kilometers with a maximum increase of 6.9%.
Kirkjubøur is the Faroe Islands’ historical and cultural center. Here lies the picturesque farm, where the present farmer is 17. Generation in the row. See the incomplete St. Magnus Cathedral, the small church of Olav from the Middle Ages.

Accommodation in Tórshavn.

Day 3: Today's bike ride is following the old road out of Tórshavn - Oyggjarvegur. Enjoy the great view both when cycling north and back to Tórshavn.
We suggest cycling to Norðadalur and stop at Norðadalsskarð and enjoy the scenic view of the island of Koltur. A total of approx. 27 kilometers and a maximum increase of 18.6%.

Day 4: Saksun is an idyllic picturesque village at the bottom of what once was a narrow fjord with high mountains on both sides.
Today, bike out of Tórshavn along the coastal road and through the tunnel to Kollafjørður. A total of approx. 98 kilometers and a maximum increase of 6.3%.

Day 5: Sornfelli is a 749m high mountain north of Tórshavn. There is also the former military radar station and a meteorological station located. The view is the most amazing you get of almost all the islands. Especially in summer it's a great place to watch the sunset.
This is a day of great height difference. Approx. 37 kilometers and a maximum increase of 15.1%.

Day 6: The final tour is the great bike ride to Tjørnuvík. The village is sheltered by the mountains with a unique view of the impressive rock formations the giant and the witch. The high mountains give the area some mystery, but not least unimaginable beauty. Approx. 105 kilometers and an increase of 9.1%.
On arrival to Tórshavn the bike is delivered back.

Day 7: Transfer from Tórshavn to the airport and departure with Atlantic Airways.

Please note: 

  • All package tour prices are based on Atlantic Airways lowest published price. The actual price upon booking may be higher.
  • There are few bike paths - you are close to the cars.
  • Passage in the roadway should be carried out with care.
  • Be sure to have enough air in the tires.
  • The weather is both interchangeable and local. Put the route so you have the wind in the back of your home trip. Please inquire at the hotel or at tourist information.
  • Be well dressed. Helmets, glasses and gloves are recommended.
  • Sheep walks free. Beware when they are at the roadside.
