DAY 1: Arrival to the magical Faroe Islands and see the largest mailbox in the world.
Arrival to the Faroe Islands.
Pick up your rental car at the airport and drive over hill and valley via Tórshavn to the ferry harbour Gamlarætt where the ferry will take you to the island of Sandoy. On the boat trip you see the islands of Koltur and Hestur.
The ferry arrives to the village of Skopun, where you will find the world's largest (blue) mailbox, which can be seen if you drive through the village.
Continue on to the small village on the island where you will stay for the next 3 nights at a summerhouse.
DAY 2: Saga island Sandoy - Vikings and witches.
The island of Sandoy, also called the Saga Island, is a large playground with something for everyone.
Explore the beach, the picturesque villages, the sheep grazing on the green mountain sides, and the lakes where you can fish.
In the old days, there lived many witches, trolls and Vikings on the island, so there are plenty of exciting stories. One legend that needs to be experienced together with a local guide, is the story about the Witch Hole. One can still clearly see the witch's footprint.
Afterwards we suggest a drive to the stone beach at Søltuvík (great place for a picnic)
DAY 3: Enjoy the day and visit a Faroese family.
Enjoy the day on your own. If you like you can buy (in advance) a homevisit so you will have the opportunity to *visit a Faroese family and experience Faroese hospitality first hand. Here you will enjoy the cozy atmosphere of a family home while hearing about Faroese society. Homemade cake, juice and coffee are served.
*Visit a Faroese family must be booked together with the package.
DAY 4: Explore the capital Tórshavn and the medieval town á Reyni.
Take the ferry back to Gamlarætt. Enjoy the day in the worlds' smallest capital, Tórshavn. Take an exploratory walk through the old part of town, Reyn, with its narrow streets and grass roofs.
There's also the opportunity to swim and visit he nice little aquarium, *Sjósavnið, which features saltwater fish from the sea around the islands.
Accommodation in chosen holiday home on the island of Streymoy or on the island of Eysturoy, where you will stay for the next 4 nights.
*We suggest visiting Sjósavnið and a walk in the old town of Torshavn.
DAY 5, DAY 6 and DAY 7: Great days to do as you please.
Three whole days to enjoy on our own with lots of room for spontaneity and relaxation.
DAY 8: Departure from the Faroe Islands.
Return the rental car at the airport. Departure with flight from the Faroe Islands.
